Diverse Nature
|
|
Even though you are never really far from a mountain in Bulgaria, for its relatively small
landmass, its geographical and landscape features vary immensely.
There is a lengthy if not over-rugged sea coast - along the Black Sea, to the east - with
long and broad sandy or dune beaches; a monumental river - the Danube, to the north, which
connects the Bulgarian cities alongside it by cruiseships to the riverports of Austria,
Germany and Hungary; there are forrests rich in vegetation and species and a number of nature
reserves.
Within the list of mountains, there is much variety. Rila (taller than Olympus) with a jagged,
Alpine character and pristine, high-altitude lakes (see link to the
Rila National Park site);
Pirin next to it, well-traversed by hill-walking paths and beautiful plant life and villages
(read and see more about Pirin here),
the Rhodopes in the south, with smoother peak-tops and a pastoral atmosphere (and a much longer geological history).
Borovets is the biggest Bulgarian skiing resort located within
the Rila Range. Look at the properties we currently offer in Borovets.
Geological earliness and smoother shapes also characterise the Balkan range which cuts across central Bulgaria
(read more about the Central Balkans here);
Sredna Gora and Strandzha with centuries-old afforestation.
As Bulgaria is very much about agriculture, there are expansive flatlands sown with wheat and
sunflower in the northeast and ubiquitously, extensive orchards and vineyards.
